Our journey into motorsport is different to others, we started this team from nothing and built it into a fully functional racing team and here's how:
In the summer of 2012, our Founder and Team Owner, Rhys Forder, started his rental karting career in the hope of becoming a professional racing driver.
However, that dream was almost shattered with the realisation that we didn't have the money to move into the British Karting Championships and eventually race cars.
Throughout his rental karting career, Rhys showed his hard work and raw speed, taking multiple wins, pole positions and podiums.
Being a Mclaren F1 fan from a young age, Rhys idolised Lewis Hamilton, whose support for young drivers fighting barriers to be able to compete in motorsport massively helped him and his motivation to continue fighting for his dream.
At the age of 15, Rhys decided to dedicate the rest of his life to achieve his dream of becoming a racing driver.
He worked various jobs with the most difficult one being in a warehouse where he had to battle difficult conditions, physical demands for the job, working through illness and injury, so that he could get as much money as he could to put into RDF Racing.
With all of his hard work and determination, on the 7th May 2025, he had history by becoming the youngest self-funded racing driver and team owner in UK motorsport at 18 years old.
RDF Racing was built and he has proven to people wanting to pursue motorsport that it is possible to become a racing driver and team owner, you just need to put your mind to it every single day and work hard for it.
